Shans are carnivorous so I don’t think they woulda have a culture of bakery? They eat a lot of seafood, eggs, and red meats.
I do think they would have artists though. So here’s a big potter lady, they have kinda stiff, hard faces so even while the rest of their bodies can store fat their faces remain avout the same shape.

While the shan gets a lot of meat from their organic meat-culture farms, in rural areas they still need to hunt every now and then to survive. Hunting is mostly a task for the soldier caste, who are taller, leaner and faster than the other castes. They also have a faster metabolism and needs more food than other shans.
The crossbow is the most common weapon for shan hunters and soldiers alike, their dreaded bio-rifles mostly used in actual warfare by special forces.
This one is likely hunting for land dwelling herd animals, waiting in ambush in shallow waters to get the best shot possible. Their outfit is somewhere inbetween cammo fatigues and a wetsuit.

Tailors then! Shans have a very strict caste system and advanced biotechnology, so I assume tailoring would be a proffession for either the worker caste (buff and slow moving shans) or the scribe caste (clever, quick and smaller shans), and mainly something they do for the vanity of the psionic elite Noble castes. Clothes in general are likely grown for convenience or spun in organic machinery, while tailoring and clothes crafting by hand is considered an art more than a necessity.
Shan workers probably know how to repair their clothes to an fro though. Would be a shame if your best pair of pants was ruined when you haven’t gotten to your next payment yet.
keetande said: What does their diet look like? You did write that they are carnivorous, but do they eat any roots nuts or alike to not miss out on any nutrients? Do they need the same type of nutrients as humans?
I gotta admit I don’t know much about nutrients, diets and stuff, “they’re carnicores” are mostly because its cool and I get to draw them with sharp teeth.
I do think their diet consists mostly of various meats, among wich crustaceans and mollusks come high. They eat them with the shell and everything, wich is a good source of calcium. they do the same with eggs, wich are eaten in a multitude of ways, but usually with the shell (taking an egg along when you’re in a hurry, biting a small hole and sucking it dry before downing the shell as well isn’t uncommon).
They aren’t as picky in what meats they eat and will eat brains, eyes, lungs, livers and everything as long as it is cooked properly. They probably even use salts and vegetable spices, even if the later are rather a result from archaic ways to store food rather than a desire to eat veggies.
If they eat bread, its probably made with bonemeal rather than flour.
keetande said: Cultural aspects that have any influences on armor or general clothing? Rituals and such do they appear? c:
Oh thats a tricky one!
of course there are a ton of different clothing cultures and armour practices in their culture.
Armour is modernly mostly an living second-skin chitin thingie used in the military. Clothing among the nobility is either formal wear that can be rather pompus depending on the occasion, or informal wich is something akin to togas, robes and such wich easily comes of since they enjoy bathing and swimming as social activities. Worker castes likely wear whats practical for their task and station, and comfy light clothing in their free time, depending on climate. Shan in human space either dress after their own culture or in styles inspired by human styles. Males tend to wear outfits that show of their necks and enhance/draw attention to their nethers.
They likely have a lot of festivals, rituals and similar with specific dressing codes, but I haven’t actually come up with a lot of stuff like that. I think the most common rituals they would have would be stuff like marriages (wich is a very traditional and business kinda deal for nobles) and birthdays (naked partying and play-hunts)

Even in the shans well ordered caste society, there are those who turn to a life of crime, for thrills, necessity, or habit. But its a dangerous existance since crimes against nobles are punished how the slighted part feels fit.
This usually means some form of humiliation punishment, like grafting the criminal with stench-glands that produce pheromones that makes other shun them. Nobles that are to harsch in their judgements might risk the ridicule of their peers, and thus there is a inofficial “socialy acceptable” means of punishment appropriate to the crime in question.
Shans in human space can mostly expect to be treated like any other sophont by the law.
